All I can tell you about these images is they belonged to an architect named R.V. Quintin who lived in San Gabriel, California. The slides are in a box labeled "
Sam Hanks Stock Car Race & Descanso Gardens, 1957
". I removed the slides of Descanso Gardens. The original box is included. ---- The last two images were taken towards dusk and are darker. I used software to try and improve the details which are easier to see when directly viewing the slides.
So - the photographer lived in San Gabriel. Descanso Gardens are in
La Cañada Flintridge in the San Gabriel Valley. Sam Hanks was from Alhambra in the San Gabriel Valley. It's likely the racing venue where these stock car races were held was also in the San Gabriel Valley or somewhere nearby within Los Angeles County. Maybe the date and vicinity will help pin down the specific location and date.

: a gracious viewer wrote and recognized the venue as being the LA County Fairgrounds in Pomona
