My friend Jim Marshall gave me this photograph when I was at his Apartment on 16th St in San Fransisco. It had just come back from a show at Fahey Klein in Los Angeles so this is a true exhibition print. This is a stunning immaculate pristine print that’s never been out of the frame. This isn’t from one of Jim’s coke fueled middle of the night “bring cash” rodeos. I new Jim for a long time and I was family. Jim was a trip, he used to call me boy, and really the best way you knew where you were with Jim was who ended up paying for dinner, jim never paid for anything, ever, and at the whiskey or troubadour they called him Mr Marshall when they gave him his Makers Mark. I had worked on the original Platinum Jazz portfolio with John Rudiak in Taos New Mexico and for what ever reason he liked me. I was sleeping in his print room on the morning of 9/11. He said get up boy 2 airplanes just crashed into the World Trade Center one crashed into the pentagon another one crashed into well we don’t know where it crashed I’m making pancakes I put blueberries in them the blue berries make them really good don’t you think- he said that all in one breath. This week is the 50th anniversary of Jimis death so I thought someone might want this. It’s also the cover photo of Jim’s first book Not Fade Away. I’ll try to put a first edition with it. I also have one of the few 20x24s done of this image if your interested, Kirk Anspach told me he only printed about 5 in that size. I think I’m going to put one of my Johnny Cash Finger San Quinten photos up as well. Full Dimensions and details on the Fahey/Klein tag.
